{"id":2221,"date":"2019-07-06T13:22:49","date_gmt":"2019-07-06T11:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/?p=2221"},"modified":"2020-05-10T10:44:25","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T08:44:25","slug":"tiktok-is-reportedly-testing-new-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/tiktok-is-reportedly-testing-new-ad\/","title":{"rendered":"TikTok is reportedly testing new ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\";https:\/\/www.socialmediatoday.com\/user_media\/cache\/80\/ce\/80ce16704a0bcc24be5343e01fad1c03.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"TikTok is reportedly testing new ad\" title=\"TikTok is reportedly testing new ad\" \/><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TikTok is reportedly testing new ad targeting options to lure marketers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking to strike while the iron&#8217;s hot, trending video app <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/news\/\">TikTok<\/a> has reportedly been pitching advertisers on a new interest-based ad targeting option, which would enable brands to reach specific subsets of the platform&#8217;s young audience in order to maximize the performance of their promotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As reported by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/digiday.com\/marketing\/tiktok-tells-advertisers-interest-based-targeting-is-coming-soon\/?DM2=706301&amp;utm_content=buffer8221e&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=buffer\">Digiday<\/a>, TikTok is testing both interest-based targeting and pixel tracking, similar to the ad tools on other social platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;These options would be in addition to targeting by age, gender, location, operating system and network on the device. Sales leaders at the short-form video app have been telling agencies it plans to release a beta version of its self-serve ad platform more widely in July, sources said.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Digiday says that TikTok is able to use video image recognition and user engagement as signals to help categorize audience interests, while it&#8217;s also working on more specific data options, via pixel-type tracking, which would further enhance its categorization capacity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, TikTok&#8217;s planning to release segmented audience targeting along similar lines to Snapchat&#8217;s &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/businesshelp.snapchat.com\/en-US\/a\/predefined-audience\">Lifestyle Categories<\/a>&#8216;, which separate users into groupings like &#8216;Automotive Enthusiasts&#8217; and &#8216;Football fans&#8217; among other, more honed in, sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.socialmediatoday.com\/user_media\/diveimage\/snapchat_lifestyle_categories.png\" alt=\"TikTok is reportedly testing new ad\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The addition would mark the next stage in TikTok&#8217;s rapid expansion. Virtually unknown in Western markets till last year,&nbsp;TikTok has now been downloaded&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com.au\/tiktok-hit-1-billion-downloads-surpassing-instagram-in-2018-2019-2?op=1&amp;r=US&amp;IR=T\">over a billion times<\/a>, with 663 million of those downloads coming in 2018, according to data from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sensortower.com\/blog\/tiktok-downloads-one-billion\">Sensor Tower<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The app has more than&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/influencermarketinghub.com\/tiktok-statistics\/\">500 million active users worldwide<\/a>, with a rising number of those coming from the US. Indeed,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/influencermarketinghub.com\/tiktok-statistics\/\">42% of the app&#8217;s revenue<\/a>&nbsp;now reportedly comes from the North American market, while users are spending, on average,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialmediatoday.com\/news\/tiktok-is-rising-but-will-it-be-a-relevant-platform-for-brands\/549376\/\">46 minutes per day in the app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brands are, unsurprisingly, keen to tap into those trends, and TikTok, with the backing of parent company ByteDance, is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialmediatoday.com\/news\/tiktok-is-rising-but-will-it-be-a-relevant-platform-for-brands\/549376\/\">moving fast<\/a>\u00a0to cater to that
