Even though most of your phone&#8217;s data probably lives in the cloud, there could still be some locally-stored photos, videos, contacts, calendars, and other important files not backed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this post, we&#8217;ll go over how to check that everything on your phone is properly backed up, so you can wipe it without thinking twice that you lost something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check account sync status<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, you definitely want to make sure that your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/technology\/\">Google<\/a> account is syncing properly with your phone, so everything that\u00a0<em>should<\/em>\u00a0be backed up is actually being backed up. Depending on your version of Android, the Sync Now option might be under a menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make sure your photos are backed up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you use Google Photos to back up the photos and videos you take with your phone, you should make sure it&#8217;s still doing that. All you have to do is open the Photos app and look for the cloud checkmark at the top, which indicates everything has been backed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screenshot_20191102-174237.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screenshot_20191102-174237-728x281.png\" alt=\"How to back up your Android phone before a factory reset\" class=\"wp-image-637317\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you previously turned off cloud backups in Photos, open the side menu, tap &#8216;Settings,&#8217; and select &#8216;Back up &amp; sync&#8217; to turn syncing on. Super easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, there are plenty of other photo backup apps for Android, including OneDrive and Dropbox.
