result&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Young people have written an open letter to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/social-media\/\">social media<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/topic\/influencers\">influencers<\/a>\u00a0urging them to stop promoting fast food on platforms like Instagram because it is endangering children&#8217;s health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter &#8211; exclusively shared with&nbsp;<strong>i<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; is from a new youth-led anti-childhood obesity campaign called&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biteback2030.com\/\">Bite Back 2030<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It says: \u201cJunk food is being given a starring role in our minds by people like you, and our health is at risk as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want you to pledge to stop posting ads for fast food online.Food companies are lobbying against the 9pm watershed on fast food adverts (Photo: Dominic Lipinski\/PA truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are asking you to use your influence to have a positive impact on thousands of young people; to use your stories to put healthy eating in the spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bite Back 2030 say that the influencer marketing sector is worth as much $10bn, with food being the second most active industry in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But with 3.3 million UK children already obese or overweight by the age of 11, much of the food promoted by influencers to young people is unhealthy, the campaign argues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gigi Hadid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to one study, children who saw popular vloggers with sugary and fatty snacks went on to eat 26 per cent more calories than those who did not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Influencers who have promoted fast food include the model Gigi Hadid, who attracted criticism this year after she&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BwPyhCHHsFn\/?utm_source=ig_embed\">posted an Instagram post sponsored by McDonalds<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One influencer who is backing the Bite Back 2030 campaign is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/culture\/television\/love-island-2018-dr-alex-george-good-morning-britain-guest-health-editor-508402\">Dr Alex George<\/a>, who shot to fame on ITV\u2019s Love Island in 2018 and has since appeared as a TV doctor on Good Morning Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr George, who has 1.3 million followers on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/social-media\/\">Instagram<\/a>, told i that unhealthy food advertising is \u201call over\u201d influencers&#8217; social media
