According to\u00a0research conducted by my company which captured the opinions of 1,518 CEOs from small and midsize businesses,\u00a0only 61 percent\u00a0expect increased revenues over the next 12 months, down\u00a0from 75 percent\u00a0last year. These figures from the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vistage.com\/ceoindex\">Q3 2019 Vistage CEO Confidence Index<\/a>\u00a0survey represent the lowest projection for increased revenues since 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With growth slowing and revenue projections softening, in the next year, you can expect that customers will become more risk-averse and cautious, sales cycles will get longer, you will hear more &#8220;no&#8221; decisions, and you will find more shoppers than buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now is the time to take a critical eye to your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/joe-galvin\/1300-ceos-shared-how-they-drove-double-digit-growth-heres-how-one-company-achieved-success.html\">customer engagement<\/a>\u00a0strategy, particularly when it comes to sales. Leverage your current relationships.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Downturn or no downturn, buyers tend to adapt quickly to new circumstances.
