Advertising Through Smart Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One in five (21%) American adults (18+) own a smart speaker, according to a Dec. 2018 NPR&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalpublicmedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Smart-Audio-Report-Winter-2018.pdf\">survey<\/a>. Moreover, there&#8217;ll be&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS44971219\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">833 million shipments&nbsp;<\/a>worldwide of smart-home devices in 2019, representing 27% growth from last year, per IDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon now has an ad-supported version of Amazon Music for Echo users. Owners of Google Home also have an ad-supported version of YouTube Music. Similarly, Pandora is letting advertisers&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/pandora-pitches-ads-targeted-to-amazon-and-google-smart-speakers-11552471201\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">target various devices&nbsp;<\/a>including Echo, Home, gaming consoles, and smart TVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brands should watch for new marketing opportunities on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/larry-alton\/are-smart-devices-hurting-your-productivity.html\">smart devices<\/a>. According to Google,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkwithgoogle.com\/consumer-insights\/voice-assistance-consumer-experience\/\">52% of owners of smart speakers&nbsp;<\/a>want to hear about deals and promotions. And why not? Consumers can shop by talking to gadgets, without ever leaving the couch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Optimizing Direct Response Marketing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Direct response marketing is about getting a user to take a specific action on a platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Marketers and website owners must keep testing to improve conversion rates,&#8221; says Gustavo Geraldes, founder of&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sendii.io\/\">Sendii<\/a>, a SMS and voice communication marketing platform. &#8220;Whomever tests the most, wins. Marketers can conduct multivariate tests on a website via tools such as vwo.com.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geraldes was awarded for becoming a&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fluentco.com\/\">Fluent<\/a>&nbsp;seven-figure a month member &#8212; earning the most commissions in the first year of any&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maxbounty.com\/\">Max Bounty<\/a>&nbsp;affiliate. He says it&#8217;s important for marketers to always come up with unique angles and put themselves in the shoes of the consumer, testing every minor detail to boost conversion rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;You can split-test things as simple as the copy, position, or color of your call-to-action button. The smallest details can significantly improve conversion rates,&#8221; says Geraldes. &#8220;Copywriting is also king. Create a message that seems personal, and that triggers an emotion. The message should solve a problem, as well as shows urgency, value, and social proof.
