The development comes just over a year after the country\u2019s competition regulator fined Google 93 million lira ($17.4 million) over competition law violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.img.sputniknews.com\/images\/107636\/89\/1076368902.jpg\" alt=\"New Android phones in Turkey to lose Google services in antitrust dispute \" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Google responded by making changes to its agreements with its business partners, the country\u2019s regulator was reportedly unhappy that they continued to not allow changes to the phones\u2019 default search engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement, Google said that it has told its business partners that it will not be approving licensing requests for new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/technology\/\">Android phones<\/a> for the Turkish market. That means they won\u2019t come with access to the Google Play Store, or apps like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmail.com\">Gmail<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\">YouTube<\/a>. However, Google clarified that existing device models will be unaffected by the decision, and will continue to be available for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEW PHONE MODELS WILL LOSE ACCESS TO GOOGLE\u2019S APPS AND SERVICES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExisting devices and apps will also continue to operate and receive updates as normal,\u201d the company said in a statement. \u201cGoogle\u2019s other products and services remain unaffected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google said that it\u2019s currently working with the country\u2019s regulator to resolve the situation, and has reportedly asked its business partners to pressure Turkey\u2019s trade minister and the country\u2019s competition authority to reconsider their decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe understand that this creates difficulties for consumers, manufacturers, app developers and carriers in Turkey, and expect to reach a resolution with the TCA soon,\u201d Google said. It noted that it has already changed its contract to offer \u201ceven greater flexibility around how [its hardware partners] preload Google\u2019s revenue-generating apps on their devices.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turkey\u2019s competition authority originally opened its investigation into Google back in 2017 after its competitor Yandex filed a complaint against it.
