You get to decide.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of us forget that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/business\/\">New Year&#8217;s commitments<\/a> aren&#8217;t just applicable to our personal lives&#8211;our professional lives are just as worthy. Here are four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/business\/\">workplace commitments<\/a> that are astonishingly simple, yet unabashedly powerful in propelling you to new heights in 2020.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make your office space yours.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Organizations have been likened to &#8220;psychic prisons&#8221;\u00a0that all but deplete workers&#8217; autonomy. Your office space shouldn&#8217;t constrain you&#8211;it should liberate you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.incimages.com\/uploaded_files\/image\/970x450\/getty_1057791840_2000133320009280405_407783.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Workplace Goals With Research-Backed Commitments \" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In his book,\u00a0<em>Tight Spaces: Hard Architecture and how to Humanize It,<\/em>\u00a0psychologist Robert Sommer delineates two types of spaces: hard spaces and soft spaces. Whereas hard spaces are immutable, soft spaces are amenable to human imprint, Sommer discovered that when people are empowered to define their own space, they are happier and more productive.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your office space is a soft space. Make it your own.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Say &#8220;no&#8221; to desktop dining.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your desk should not double as a dining room table. Unfortunately, desktop dining is an all-too-common practice.
