There, I said it. Maybe now I\u2019ll actually follow through. Or I\u2019ll spend the week wandering from supermarket to supermarket, stocking up on canned soup. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/news\/\">coronavirus <\/a>has been rattling the business world\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/07\/business\/coronavirus-business-impact.html\">since January<\/a>, but this week was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/25\/health\/coronavirus-us.html\">different<\/a>: It sent the markets tumbling and now seems poised to disrupt every aspect of American life. Maybe we\u2019ll all end up doing our taxes from the safety of a bunker.\u00a0<em>\u2014 David Yaffe-Bellany<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"link-1f40f899\">What\u2019s Up? (Feb. 23-Feb. 29)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"link-27e5c95f\">Stock Market Plunges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As cases of the coronavirus spread around the globe, stock markets entered a seven-day meltdown, with analysts issuing new warnings that the outbreak could drag down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/business\/\">economies <\/a>around the globe. The market losses last week were the largest since the financial crisis in October 2008, even as the Federal Reserve\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/28\/business\/economy\/federal-reserve-says-ready-to-act.html\">sought to assure investors<\/a>\u00a0on Friday that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/business\/\">American economy<\/a> remained strong. For some companies, however, the apocalypse has been good for business: Investors are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/26\/business\/stocks-coronavirus.html\">betting<\/a>\u00a0that people will load up on Clorox wipes and Campbell\u2019s soups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static01.nyt.com\/images\/2020\/03\/01\/business\/01Withinterest1-illo\/01Withinterest1-illo-articleLarge.jpg?quality=75&amp;auto=webp&amp;disable=upscale\" alt=\"The Week in Business: It Was All About the Coronavirus\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"link-6d70175c\">A New Bob at Disney<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After delaying his retirement several times, Bob Iger&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/25\/business\/media\/bob-iger-disney-ceo.html\">abruptly stepped down<\/a>&nbsp;as chief executive of Disney on Tuesday. (No, he\u2019s not running for president: \u201cIt\u2019s a little late for that,\u201d he said.) He will be replaced by Bob Chapek, or Bob C, as he\u2019s known in the halls of Disney. But the shared given name is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/26\/business\/media\/bob-chapek-disney-ceo.html\">where the similarities end<\/a>. Mr. Iger is a larger-than-life personality who had a successful career in television before he became chief executive in 2005. Mr. Chapek is a quiet and efficient operator with almost no experience in television.
