But when your potential employer hasn\u2019t existed for more than a few years and may not even have a product, let alone profits, how can you tell if it\u2019s a good place to work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/startup\/\">Forbes\u00a0<\/a><\/em>partnered with market research company\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Statista<\/a>\u00a0to identify the up-and-coming companies liked best by their employees in our inaugural ranking of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/americas-best-startup-employers\/\">America\u2019s best startup employers<\/a>. The list was compiled by evaluating 2,500 American businesses with at least 50 employees on three criteria: employer reputation, employee satisfaction and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/specials-images.forbesimg.com\/imageserve\/5e668e1ee1e61700075932c4\/960x0.jpg?fit=scale\" alt=\"America\u2019s Best Startup Employers 2020\" \/><figcaption>America\u2019s Best Startup Employers 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> Those who are drawn to early-stage companies may have different professional priorities than those at more established firms, but the qualities they value most in employers are surprisingly similar. A clear mission, for example, is just as important to the more than 450 employees who work for\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.allbirds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Allbirds<\/a>, No. 1 on this list, as it is to those on the payrolls of some of America\u2019s biggest businesses. Since launching in 2016, the San Francisco-based direct-to-consumer footwear brand has sought to create comfortable, carbon-neutral shoes. A certified B Corp, Allbirds\u2019 sustainable practices have proved an effective recruitment tool. \u201cThe talent we attract is aligned with our mission to make an impact on the world,\u201d says Laila Tarraf, head of employee experience at Allbirds. \u201cFor people who want to spend their working lives feeling like they\u2019re doing something that helps the greater good, we make that possible here.\u201d\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mission matters, but it\u2019s just one piece of the puzzle.
