The FCC said the sensors can also be operated aboard aircraft.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" data-reactid=\".0.4.$\/@tech\/the-full-story-j6v4o8dbz\/google-wins-u=1s=1-approval-for-new-radar-based-motion-sensor\/a-suVFnRPpTu-hjGQ43yIfMQ%3Aa%3A142275117-25739c38c3%2Freuters=1com.0.2.2.0.1.0.$2\">\n<p>The FCC said the decision &#8220;will serve the public interest by providing for innovative device control features using touchless hand gesture technology.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" data-reactid=\".0.4.$\/@tech\/the-full-story-j6v4o8dbz\/google-wins-u=1s=1-approval-for-new-radar-based-motion-sensor\/a-suVFnRPpTu-hjGQ43yIfMQ%3Aa%3A142275117-25739c38c3%2Freuters=1com.0.2.2.0.1.0.$3\">\n<p>A Google spokeswoman did not immediately comment on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" data-reactid=\".0.4.$\/@tech\/the-full-story-j6v4o8dbz\/google-wins-u=1s=1-approval-for-new-radar-based-motion-sensor\/a-suVFnRPpTu-hjGQ43yIfMQ%3Aa%3A142275117-25739c38c3%2Freuters=1com.0.2.2.0.1.0.$4\">\n<p>Google said in documents filed with the FCC that the effort emerged from the work of Google\u2019s Advanced Technology and Projects group that focuses on development of mobile technologies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" data-reactid=\".0.4.$\/@tech\/the-full-story-j6v4o8dbz\/google-wins-u=1s=1-approval-for-new-radar-based-motion-sensor\/a-suVFnRPpTu-hjGQ43yIfMQ%3Aa%3A142275117-25739c38c3%2Freuters=1com.0.2.2.0.1.0.$5\">\n<p>The FCC said the Soli sensor captures motion in a three-dimensional space using a radar beam to enable touchless control of functions or features that can benefit users with mobility or speech impairments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" data-reactid=\".0.4.$\/@tech\/the-full-story-j6v4o8dbz\/google-wins-u=1s=1-approval-for-new-radar-based-motion-sensor\/a-suVFnRPpTu-hjGQ43yIfMQ%3Aa%3A142275117-25739c38c3%2Freuters=1com.0.2.2.0.1.0.$6\">\n<p>Google says the sensor can allow users to press an invisible button between the thumb and index fingers or a virtual dial that turns by rubbing a thumb against the index finger.
