{"id":8197,"date":"2020-05-09T01:34:24","date_gmt":"2020-05-08T23:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/?p=8197"},"modified":"2020-05-10T13:42:59","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T11:42:59","slug":"startups-can-help-larger-corporations-pivot-faster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/startups-can-help-larger-corporations-pivot-faster\/","title":{"rendered":"Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\";https:\/\/assets.entrepreneur.com\/content\/3x2\/2000\/20200506124017-shutterstock-304390607.jpeg?width=700&amp;crop=2:1\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster\" title=\"Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Innovating In The Middle Of A Pandemic: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Working With Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses of all sizes across the world have had the rug pulled out from under them as a result of the novel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/startup\/\">coronavirus<\/a> pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s no secret that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/startup\/\">businesses<\/a> of all sizes across the world have had the rug pulled out from under them as a result of the novel coronavirus (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/startup\/\">COVID-19<\/a>) pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies from nearly every industry have been compelled to, in varying degrees,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/350198\">pivot their way of working<\/a>\u00a0overnight as the UAE and countries across the world imposed extreme movement restrictions to contain the outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More significantly, however, they are now faced with the stark reality that their model might need rapid and permanent revision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From an optimistic standpoint though, isn\u2019t this moment what entrepreneurship is all about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/350112\">solving problems&nbsp;and finding opportunities<\/a>&nbsp;in places others may have overlooked is what founders thrive on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome of the most creative and innovative ideas [in the world] come out of startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs),\u201d says Natasha Hatherall-Shawe, founder of TishTash Marketing and Public Relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hatherall-Shawe, who launched\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/smerisecollective.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The SME Rise Collective<\/a>\u00a0along with Chloe Ragg, founder of Fox &amp; Hound Digital Communications in April \u2013an initiative offering individuals and companies the opportunity to support local SMEs by sponsoring marketing packages\u2013 says the strain on the small businesses has been \u201cmassive,\u201d as they cope with paying staff salaries and other expenses as they face near stagnant revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sponsorship can be from as little as AED100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In turn, the campaign also helps smaller marketing and communication agencies and licensed freelancers by allowing them to join the Collective and offer their services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But while the Collective has received positive response so far, already supporting two SMEs with their marketing for two months and covering salaries for two agencies in the process, it\u2019s mostly been individuals and other SMEs who have supported the sponsorships, Hatherall-Shawe says. \u201cThere\u2019s people who have told me they\u2019ve had a 50% pay cut, but still want to contribute,\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>she shares, adding that the Collective wants to be \u201con the radar of the big guys,\u201d because many larger firms have corporate social responsibility (CSR)\u00a0budgets. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about monetary support,\u201d she explains. \u201cThey can help by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/350113\">mentoring or collaborating<\/a>\u00a0or offering support in other ways.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.entrepreneur.com\/images\/misc\/1588765652_TishTash-Natasha.jpg?width=1000\" alt=\"Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster \"\/><figcaption><em>Natasha Hatherall-Shawe, founder of TishTash Marketing and Public Relations<\/em><br>Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And\u00a0collaborating\u00a0can benefit the bigger companies too, Hatherall-Shawe insists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBig companies are affected [by the pandemic] too,\u201d she adds. \u201cThere\u2019s the assumption that they\u2019re faring much better, but I\u2019ve had several CEOs tell me of their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/348250\">cash flow concerns<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, she admits, it can be hard for big firms to connect with startups, and many might not know where to begin or whom to deal with, and how to go about a thorough vetting process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/350254\">entrepreneur<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Innovating In The Middle Of A Pandemic: How Working With Startups Can Help Larger Corporations Pivot Faster Businesses of all sizes across the world have had the rug pulled out from under them as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
