The traditional &#8220;rules&#8221; of work simply don&#8217;t apply to a majority of jobs anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you like it or not, things have changed. The traditional \u201crules\u201d of work simply don\u2019t apply to a majority of jobs anymore, and that can be a hard truth to hear. Many of us are already overwhelmed with the sheer volume of tough decisions, changes, and new responsibilities we have to juggle, but \u2014 in order to do what\u2019s best for our businesses \u2014 it\u2019s critical to take a hard look at how things used to be, what\u2019s changed since then, and, most important, how we must respond to those changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.entrepreneur.com\/content\/3x2\/2000\/1602775306-GettyImages-912016152.jpg?format=jpg&amp;width=400&amp;crop=3:2\" alt=\"The traditional rules of work simply\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Old Rule: Traditional office hours<br>New Rule: Active hours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For many industries, the introduction of remote work created a major shake-up that, if we\u2019re honest, not everyone was completely prepared for. However, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/topic\/working-from-home\">working from home<\/a>\u00a0continues to change how we do\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/topic\/business\">business<\/a>, it\u2019s important for usemployers to realize that we can\u2019t change the entire work format and enforce the same rules. \u201cThis is how we\u2019ve always done it\u201d is irrelevant. Circumstances have changed, and it\u2019s time for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazzlepop.net\/site\/category\/business\/\">business owners<\/a> to adapt.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sorry folks, but the traditional Monday-through-Friday, 9 a.m.&nbsp;to 5 p.m. schedule is officially dead, and it\u2019s time for business owners to make the leap. Instead of keeping with an outdated format that, let\u2019s be honest, was never actually great for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/topic\/productivity\">productivity<\/a>, don\u2019t be afraid to rethink things.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Replace your traditional work hours with predefined &#8220;active hours&#8221; that work for you, your employees, and your business. That might be 2 p.m.&nbsp;to 5 p.m.&nbsp;every day (or some other chunk of time that makes sense), and encourage your employees to be available and\/or on call during these hours.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to ask your employees for input on what works best for them \u2014 and it doesn\u2019t necessarily need to be the same active hours for each employee\u00a0each day of the week.
